Streamside Protection Implementation Workshop

Speech given By Zo Ann Morten October 10, 2001 at the Streamside Protection Implementation Workshop meeting,
at the Delta Airport Hotel, Richmond, BC.

This legislation assists the Provincial government in its mandate to protect fish and fish habitat. The act has the demonstrated support of governments, industry, environmental groups and the public at large. We are counting on this government to show us strong leadership in environmental protection. Show us that they are committed to the shared responsibility of the protection of our natural landscape.
It is the co-ordinated effort of this regulation that sets it apart that will help to ensure its success. Without the firm support of the Provincial Government we will continue with the status quo. Loss of fish populations and fish habitat.
