Wayne Goeson

Wayne spent his life in Coquitlam where his parents owned Goeson's Grocery on Austin. He was interested in everything, but his greatest loves were fishing and hunting. He loved his boats, shop, computers, travelling, photography, astronomy, woodworking and could build and fix anything. He was a director of the BC Federation of Drift Fishers, a lifetime member of the Port Coquitlam and District Hunting and Fishing Club and worked for years with sports advisory groups for fish conservation and habitat. He was one of the founders of the Al Grist Memorial Hatchery on the Coquitlam River and a proud member of his local fishing club - the Drifters. Wayne spent all his life fishing on BC lakes, rivers and ocean waters. He was a passionate hunter all over BC the Yukon and Wyoming. Wayne worked for Telus for 36 years in various departments. Always looking for a challenge. He retired in 2009. In the past 10 years he and Patricia enjoyed travelling - Wayne loved those cruises, the weeks at the cabin in the Cariboo and the camping trips in the RV. Wayne was a loyal and generous friend always ready to lend a hand or give advice. He will be sorely missed by all. He was taken from us too soon but while doing what he loved. In the last few months he battled cancer bravely always optimistic but his big heroic heart just stopped. Patricia thanks all his doctors and those at the BCCA and VGH for their exceptional care. We will always be grateful for their help extending his life.
