VICTORIA -- It's okay again -- for now -- to drink water from wells along the Cheakamus River near Squamish.
People were warned against using the water after a train derailment last Friday spilled the toxic chemical caustic soda into the river.
The Vancouver Coastal Health authority says testing has shown the well water is safe to drink.
But it also says another warning against the use of the water will be issued if it rains and during the recovery of the derailed tanker.
The tanker is not expected to be removed before Thursday.
Environmental officials also say it's safe again for recreational users to use the Cheakamus River and the Squamish Estuary.
